To ensure that you have a chance to see a reindeer, one of our safaris heads to a traditional Lappish reindeer farm. In case you are interested, by pre-ordering it is possible to combine a short reindeer ride with the safari. After we have enjoyed hot beverages with Finnish buns we will head back to Levi. Length of the safari is about 30km and it will take about two hours. If there is need, the smallest of the family can enjoy the safari in a heated sled.

Safari time varies, as it always includes stop-over and it’s dependent on the weather conditions. During the stop-over musher and passenger can change places.
We use 3 husky-kennels, located about 30 min drive from Levi center. In all kennels owners are professional sport dog mushers and have specially trained Arctic-Alaskan breed huskies. This breed was created by cross-breeding in the beginning of 20th century in Alaska especially for dog racing during the Gold rush period. There are over 50 dogs in each kennel, including some Siberian huskies and puppies.
Upon arrival, you will get complete instructions of driving (guiding) the dog sledge on your own and then immediately start the safari. The track lies partly in the forest and partly on a beautiful frozen river (depending on the kennel). After the ride you can walk around the kennel, pet the dogs and take photos with them. Inside a cozy teepee where you can warm up around the open fire, have a hot drink with cookie. The host will tell about life with the dogs and answer questions.
Driving a husky sled requires good physical fitness and is not suitable for people with reduced mobility. However, they can ride in the sled as passengers.
In case of an accident caused by the client during the safari, the fine is 600 € for the damaged equipment/sled and 4000 € for the injured dog.

As we drive to the kennel from Levi, our guide will tell you a story about Balto and share some interesting facts about huskies.

In this excursion you will visit one of the oldest in Finland husky kennels, which belongs to the famous Finnish musher Reijo Jääskeläinen. During a kennel tour you will meet genuine Siberian huskies of different ages, arctic fox, brown fox, tundra wolves, mixed dog-wolfs, spitz and puppies. Some of these animals are real movie-stars, as they were specially trained for filming. Your host will demonstrate some of the tricks the animals can do.

Finally, you will go on a husky ride with professional musher. You’ll be seated in a sleigh, which can take 2 adults and a child and enjoy a thrilling husky ride. Musher will stand behind you on the runners and you’ll get a feeling that dogs are pulling you on their own discretion. 2 km track goes through the beautiful winter forest and lake sceneries. After the ride you will meet the kissing reindeer Taika, can take some photos with the dogs, and finally go inside a warm Laplander’s hut where you can enjoy a warm drink and a hot sausage, sit next to the fireplace, visit a hall of fame of the owner, watch a movie about husky life and buy some local souvenirs.

Ranua Zoo is the northernmost zoo in Finland, located in a scenic forest. It is home to over 50 species of Arctic animals, including polar bears, lynxes, wolves, and reindeer. The zoo is open year-round, offering a unique opportunity to experience northern wildlife. Located just outside Rovaniemi, it takes about an hour to drive there (approximately 80 km).

The elves will welcome guests to the Elves’ Village of Fun. Guided by a secret map, you’ll journey through the Forest of Adventures, past the magical Seita Stone, and into the hidden Elf Hideout.
In the Gingerbread House, you’ll bake delicious cookies, and in the Elf School, you’ll create your own elves and snowflakes. Then, you’ll visit the cottage of the elf wizard, where a mysterious red crystal eye gleams on the roof — which Mrs. Santa calls her third eye. Along the way, you’ll meet elves who will help you find the path to these secret places. They’ll be happy to tell you more about their lives — if you dare to ask.
Outdoors, you’ll slide down snowy hills, play elf football, and visit the elves’ reindeer village. The highlight of the experience will be a magical encounter with Santa Claus himself. At the end of the visit, you’ll get to enjoy a warm bowl of rice pudding with raisins.
Travel time is approximately 15 minutes one way.

On this excursion we will take you to a reindeer farm owned by one Lappish family in the fifth generation. It lies on the bank of the longest river in Lapland and is surrounded by taiga forest.

You will get to ride on a longer 50 min super-safari on reindeer sleds thru a beautiful winter forest at relaxed pace. From the early morning the reindeer herder starts to prepare for the safari: harness reindeers and sleds, puts extra warm reindeer skins for the passengers, makes fresh tea and coffee, bakes fresh buns… After the ride you will be able to take photos with the reindeers and feed them with lichen, reindeer’s favorite treat. Then a cup of hot tea or coffee with a bun in a warm guest cafe by an open fireplace will taste especially good. You can check out local hand-made souvenirs and look around the farm, which has many old buildings dated back to 19th century. The owner can tell you more interesting stories.
